Getting to Montserrat Monastery

By Train and Cable Car
The R5 train line leaves from Plaça d’Espanya in Barcelona and takes you directly to the Montserrat Monastery station. The trip takes approximately one hour. The train leaves once an hour so make sure you check the timetable so you can arrive at the train station with plenty of time to buy your tickets at get to the platform. We recommend buying round trip tickets and selecting the cable car option to get up the mountain. There is another train that takes you up to the top, but it takes longer than the cable car.
A very unique way to experience the stunning views of Montserrat, is to take the Aeri de Montserrat cable car from the Montserrat Monastery train station. The cable car ride takes about 10 minutes and offers spectacular panoramic views of the mountain range.
